Program Philosophy

Riverside Montessori Academy (RIVMA) is committed in emphasizing a balance between a child’s academic learning with their social and emotional growth. At every age level, great care is taken to provide an atmosphere that supports the child in all areas of development. Working in partnership with each family in the community, it is the mission of RIVMA to educate responsible, lifelong learners so that each student possesses the skills, knowledge, creativity, sense of self-worth and values necessary to thrive in and contribute to a diverse and changing world.

We believe that early childhood is an important time of learning and growth in a child’s life. We will nurture and support each child in an environment that inspires a love of learning and readiness for school. We recognize the uniqueness of each child and the diversity of their needs. Our staff will plan and implement developmentally and individually appropriate learning experiences that helps foster a natural curiosity for learning and supports the ability to take risks that lead to new skill development. It is a setting where children feel safe, respected, and cared for.

Staff and Teaching Methods

RIVMA utilizes the Montessori method of education. This system of education is both a philosophy of child development and a rationale for guiding such growth. It promotes the joy of learning and a curiosity for the acquisition of information.

Children, who experience the joy of learning, are happy, confident, fulfilled and self-reliant. Through various structured and unstructured activities that teach children life skills, children learn to be independent. At RIVMA, the uniqueness of each individual child is respected with concern and insight by a highly skilled staff of experienced Montessori Teachers.

All Teachers are trained in Early Childhood Development, have mandatory immunizations and are Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified.
